Vocabulary Learning Strategies Used by Saudi University Students in Pair Work

Although there is robust research on vocabulary learning strategies (VLSs), little known about the that learners use in pair work. Therefore, this study examines VLSs employed by 40 Saudi undergraduate students whilst working tasks. This also investigates whether a relationship between using certain and type of task undertaken. Two tasks were used: reading comprehension with multiple-choice questions ‘filling gaps’. All pairs’ conversations audio recorded. The results showed mainly three used tasks: “asking for help from other student”, “guessing meaning context” “using dictionary”. Also, was statistically significant including asking guessing context strategies.
